Mother's Day in Colon Ward

As we walked into church, Paula Trujillo handed all the women a cute card. She had cut out high heeled shoes and decorated each one differently with lots of details in colored pencil and a bow. Inside was a sweet greeting for Mother's Day. I think she did it on her own initiative. She signed the note inside as from the Young Single Adults of the ward. It was very kind of her to do that for the whole ward.

In Relief Society they cut the lesson a bit short and the Primary children came in to sing to their mothers.


The children passed out photos of themselves for their mothers and treats for everyone in Relief Society. Here are two of the smaller children:

After the children passed out cookies, the Relief Society presidency each said a few words about how important mothers are and passed out brownies topped with whipped cream that had small cubes of peaches stirred in it. I don't think brownies are a typical Ecuadorian recipe. This ward has had American missionaries for many years. Very good, especially on a Fast Sunday (we had Stake Conference last week). It would be rude to not eat it, right?
